How We Can Support You
Senior Alert Scheme:
The Seniors Alert Scheme (SAS) is a scheme to support eligible people aged 65 years or older to get a monitored personal alarm. The alarm enables people who are eligible to continue to live securely in their homes giving them confidence and peace of mind.
The Scheme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and administered by Pobal. South Kerry Development Partnership (SKDP) administer the Senior Alert Scheme in the South Kerry area. For further information please contact SKDP on 066-9472724.
Care of the elderly.
Working in conjunction with the HSE Community Nurses the Rural Social scheme and Tus participant provide a labour resource to carry light home maintenance work for venerable older people living in isolation. Referrals are made by the community nurses and all materials provided by the home owner themselves. Care of the Elderly Application Forms are available at all South Kerry Development Partnership Offices.
This is an initiative to assist older people who are not in a position to do the work themselves or don’t have family member close by to do the work and can’t afford to hire someone to do the work. Where older people can afford to hire someone, they will be referred onto local contractors to do the work.
