On October 3rd 2025, SKDP and NEWKD united Kerry’s growing social enterprise sector for an energising and collaborative morning at the RDI Hub, Killorglin, for the Kerry Social Enterprise Conference. Despite Storm Amy, a strong turnout of social enterprises, support agencies and sector leaders gathered to explore practical insights, funding pathways, emerging AI opportunities and strategies to accelerate social impact across the county.
The conference opened with SKDP CEO Noel Spillane launching the new South Kerry Social Enterprise Directory, a resource designed to strengthen visibility, connection and collaboration among local social enterprises. The event was facilitated by Chris Gordon, CEO of the Irish Social Enterprise Network.
Participants also benefitted from presentations and information sessions delivered by national and regional support organisations, including Clann Credo, Community Finance Ireland, Rethink Ireland, The Wheel, SERI, Kerry Volunteer Centre, WorkAbility, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, the Department of Social Protection, the SKDP LEADER Programme and NEWKD.
Case studies from Forbairt Na Dromoda and Common Knowledge (Co. Clare) demonstrated the potential of social enterprise to drive economic resilience, community wellbeing and sustainable local development.
